Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan)

What is Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan)?

Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) consists of rounded, flowing, balanced movements that some have described as one of the “ultimate stress relieving tools”. These gentle yet dynamic exercises have been shown to increase flexibility and improve posture, balance and overall health and stamina.

Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) utilizes the ancient philosophy of Yin-Yang and the Five Element theories for its foundation and to establish its training principles. Hundreds of years of experience have shown that Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) can improve one’s overall health, reduce tension, and help to alleviate a number of physical ailments including high blood pressure, arthritis, asthma, heart problems, and nervousness. The same techniques that were once used for combat have proved to be effective as life prolonging, healing, and rejuvenating exercises.

There are many different styles of Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) and a great number of empty hand forms and weapons routines. WaterWays Taiji offers training in the Yang Style, Chen Style, and Combined Taijiquan.
